What You Need to Know
- Healthcare presumptive only - This does NOT provide disability compensation, only VA healthcare eligibility
- Time-based eligibility - Mental health condition must develop within specific timeframes after separation based on era of service
- Persian Gulf era ongoing - Any mental health condition qualifies for veterans of this era which is still active
If you developed specific mental health conditions within a time frame. The VA will grant Health care under Chapter 17. Specifically, if the VA is unable to provide service-connection for whatever reason.
IMPORTANT: This Presumptive is ONLY for establishing Health care NOT Service-connection for disability compensation!
Eligibility
Eligibility is based upon two factors:
Period of service (other than dishonorable); and
When the mental health condition developed.

The Persian Gulf War era is STILL ongoing!
