Technical Support: DS Logon - Unable to Change Password
For when you go to change your password but the change password button is grayed out and your new password meets ALL password requirements.
The Problem
You're trying to change your DS Logon password but:
- The "Change Password" button is grayed out
- Your new password meets all requirements
- You've tried multiple different passwords
- Nothing seems to work
Solution
Select "Forgot Password?" instead of trying to change it directly.
Complete the given DS Logon Reset Password steps.
You will then be allowed to set a new password.
Why This Works: The "Forgot Password" flow bypasses the bug in the direct password change feature. It forces a full password reset which properly unlocks the change functionality.
Alternative: Use Login.gov or ID.me
Consider switching to Login.gov or ID.me for accessing VA services. These platforms are becoming the standard and typically have fewer technical issues than DS Logon.
